The first build up of my car
« on: August 11, 2007, 05:22:07 PM »

okay so i went ahead and installed the torker II intake with an edelbrock performer series 600.  got lots of shiney bits on it Tongue

today (saturday) we timed and tuned the carb and it runs awesome.  found some minor oil leaks.  one out of the dip stick, the top is gone so it doesn't seal the tube.  and one around the base of the new distributor i installed. i have to pull that now and find out why its leaking.  other than that it runs awesome.

next up, new rear end, prolly an 8.8 and 3:73's, and i need to find a hood that i can modify to accept the higher intake and air cleaner

the diff will come soon, i might get an 8.8 with 3:73's and bolt it on.  i also want to get the headers installed so it breathes better.

as for a cruise, i still have some front end work to look at.  brakes, rotos, tie rod ends, things like that. but definately i'm up for a cruise in town (lame as that is Tongue)

Dude you got enough spare parts for a complete drivetrain and beer cans for new body panels, mind if I start a project of my own over there, I need a new stang!

And I could use the excuse to drink  Smiley

Looks like a good day's work!  How's it running?

Curious why you went with a Torker II and Edel carb combo...  Did you get a deal on the parts or have you heard they worked well together?

well the torkerII i got for a slammin deal from a guy (came with headers and the chromie valve covers for $100) and since i had the edelbrock air cleaner already and the edelbrock intake, i went and bought an edelbrock carb to match.

the car runs awesome! got the fuel dialed in and the idle set proper.  ijust need to get a good tranny with a good torque/stall converter so i can have a good launch.  next time off (in 2 weeks) i will be trying to shoe-horn the headers into place, then find some 3:55's or 3:73's for my 7.5 rear.

we all have beards cause its the Port Alberni way. hahahah.  i also tend to look 16 when i shave completely sooo......

okay, so i'm going to be home from work tomorrow.  wednesday i hope to have the headers installed.  i went to the parts store before i left and got a set of gaskets to match, and asked one of the owners if he knew what make they were, and he said the number that was stamped on it sounded like a hedman number. i'm hoping he's right.  the headers are equal length long tubes with a 3 or 3 1/2 collector.  when i got them they came with the adapter to bring it down to i thikn 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 exhaust size.  once i get the headers installed im going to be working on the front end a little and see if i can find the clunking noise.  then its rear end time.  i want to see if i can find a set of 3:55's or 3:73's for the 7.5 diff i have now, anyone have a set or know of a set around i can pick up for free or close to it? i dont mind paying for them if thats the case

Somehow i knew it was Port... i went to 2nd, 3rd and 4th year with a couple kids from there, one guy was named jesse, but they called him moose, cause he was massive, absolutely hilarious though.  He was into stangs too..... IIRC

Don't waste your time with the 7.5 man.

If you want to do hard launches, the 7.5 won't hold up for ever, plus its not trac-locked so you won't be at your full potential anyways.

Spend 200-300 dollars for a good 8.8 and put it in. Its an easy swap, takes around 6-10 hours depending on how many rusted bolts you have to loosen.
